  • About this Coffee: Political and economic unrest in the Democratic Republic of Congo has made specialty coffee market access difficult over the decades. This coffee was brought to us by the great folks at Mighty Peace Coffee. Founded in 2018 and led by women executives, Mighty Peace Coffee helps create opportunities for communities that live in conflict and in post-conflict zones by helping them produce and sell great coffees. The export of this coffee was delayed for months due to attacks by armed militia in the North Kivu territory at the end of 2021. This forced producers and farmers to flee temporarily and seek refuge outside the city of Beni for weeks. Once security was restored, producers and their families were able to return to their homes. We’re incredibly appreciative of Mighty Peace Coffee and we acknowledge the extremely difficult circumstances that producers faced in this region. Nguvu is Swahili for “power” and is a certified organic lot. The cup is savory, with a rhubarb-like vibrant level of acidity, and a sweet apricot finish.
